Development of an innovative test machine for tyre, wheel and suspension systems for automotive and industrial vehicles

Reliability and efficiency of automotive industrial vehicles are strongly affected by the behaviour components involved in interaction with ground. For this reason, like tyres, wheels suspension systems physically tested, for performance durability assessment. Anyway, standard test machines generally designed testing only one specific component.The aim work is design an innovative machine, able to perform different kinds tests, tyre, wheel system components, on a unique bench. The machine flat track type, better fit than traditional drum types simulating real tyre-to-ground contact conditions. core Gough-Stewart platform, where fixed, which moved six hydraulic actuators reproduce multiple configurations, extended time periods or numerous block repetitions. After preliminary phase, were subjected topology optimization modal analysis FEM, reduce weights avoid any issues related expected working frequencies. Given quality results achieved, currently, software closed-loop control configuration under development, prototype next construction.
